Texas is an at-will employment state, which means that an employee may be terminated for almost any reason. However, under Texas and federal law, there are some reasons that employer cannot terminate or otherwise harm an employee, including: discrimination based on age (over the age of 40), sex, ethnicity, race, national origin, disability, religion or retaliation for complaining about discrimination, for filing a worker’s compensation claim, for taking FMLA leave, or for refusing to engage in illegal activity. If you are an employee working in Texas who believes that you have been subjected to discrimination in the workplace, retaliated against, or otherwise wrongfully terminated, please do not hesitate to contact us. We understand that every case is different, and our employment lawyers strive to provide our clients with honest and straightforward legal advice for each unique situation.
